How to Heal From Childhood Trauma

Too many people remain stuck inside the condition that tough childhood has formed inside of them.

Many struggle to get free as I used to do, but are unable to truly set themselves free.

The truth is they can get free and they must.

This post is all about sharing with you how I healed my childhood trauma so that you too can heal your life and be your very best self.

How I Healed From Childhood Trauma

What caused my childhood trauma

  • Severely abused
  • Neglected
  • Living in constant fear

I lived in fear every second of my childhood when my father was in my vicinity.  I loved it when he was gone for a time because I didn’t have to be afraid that something bad could happen to me without a warning.

My mother was also abusive but her anger and her lashing out for the most part made some kind of sense.  There was a triggering event, I would do something against her wishes or her rules and I was in trouble.

On the other hand, my father’s punishments were random and sadistic.

What was happening to me when I was stuck in my painful past

  • bouts of anxiety
  • depression
  • ruminations
  • problem relationships
  • inability to trust
  • unable to self-love
  • lack of healthy life tools
  • low self-confidence
  • needy of love
  • low self-worth
  • blocked from self-awareness
  • living in denial of truths
  • extremely low self-esteem

I lived a life of lies and was very good at pretending my life was the way I wanted it to be.

I was also, extremely needy of those I loved and I loved with too many conditions that no one could satisfy.  In my mind, it was always the fault of someone else when something went wrong.

Anxiety and ruminating were my constant companions and I had no idea how to love myself or how to make my life work very well.

How I healed from my childhood trauma

  • made a clear decision to heal myself no matter what it took
  • created and put me through an 8-week healing workshop
  • explored my pain
  • gained a new understanding of negative emotions
  • learned how to love myself
  • established a new image of me
  • stopped ruminating
  • learned life skills
  • lost victim mentality
  • studied a hero’s mentality
  • begin honoring my passions
  • learned to honor my voice
  • lost fear of facing my flaws
  • found unconditional self-acceptance
  • practicing self-compassion
  • learned to trust myself
  • making decisions
  • trust my thoughts
  • practicing not caring about other’s opinions
  • study stoicism

One of the main catalysts of my change was to shake off the idea that I was a victim.  I was a victim of abuse when I was a child.  But I had to lose the constant victim mindset to move forward.

When I realized that I had the power to decide how I was going to participate in my life, who I wanted to be, and that life was about how I chose my actions, my life inside and outside of me began to feel in ways that I had never imagined that it could.

What I had begun to see was that life has its ups and downs for every single person in this life.

I no longer dwell too long in self-pity, instead, I look for ways to unfold my life even better than it was, thus experiencing the joy of being the hero of my own life.

You too, can heal your childhood trauma and be the hero of your own life.

I am here to help!
