Gratitude Practice

Gratitude Practice

Do you have a regular gratitude practice in your life?  Do you feel that you have good things in your life that you can be grateful for? Have you ever had a ritual of giving thanks for the positive things in your life?

Gratitude Practice

I cannot say enough about the importance of having a gratitude practice in your life no matter the current condition of your life.

Having a gratitude practice, and being in a state of thankfulness is as important as brushing your teeth every day, twice a day.

I don’t start my day without it and in this post, I will tell you why.

After learning about the importance of this practice, you can begin practicing it and never want to go back to not doing it.

This post is about teaching you the importance of having a gratitude practice so that you can be your most powerful self.

Gratitude Practice

When you don’t have a sense of gratitude in your life …

  • You might be bitter
  • You can be prone to feeling unhappy
  • You can miss out on opportunities to gain good things in your life
  • You may complain a lot
  • Negative things may happen to you more than you’d like
  • Good people may not stay around too long
  • You may have a victim mindset

Many of us go through our lives taking what others could only hope to have for granted.  When you take those things for granted, it is as if you don’t have them, even if you do, because you are not fully benefitting from those good things in your life.

How often do you realize you don’t appreciate your good health until you are sick and just when you get better, you are grateful, yet only a little time afterward, you forget all about the fact that you have good health?

Your mind may be too busy thinking about the fact that you don’t have the skinny figures that you see in magazines.  You have no idea how healthy those people feel unable to enjoy regular foods that you can.

You could feel thankful for the good health that your body gives you regularly, be happier as you acknowledge the power that you have by having such good health, and allow that good energy to help you get even better by implementing regular exercises and becoming fitter and healthier.

But when you are not thankful, and are in a state of emotional lack, you not only. miss out on the good feelings, you can help yourself lose, if even a little at a time, the good that you do have.

Why have a Gratitude Practice?

  • It puts you in a positive emotional state which enables you to have access to your power
  • Helps you to see and appreciate what you have instead of taking them for granted
  • You become more attractive to positive people and positive occurrences
  • Helps you to be a more loving, kind, and patient person

When you have a daily practice of gratitude, you are training your mind to be in a state of emotional generosity and openness to possibilities because you are feeling grace, your heart is open and your energy is love.  When you are in this state, the best possible scenario is available for your noticing and choosing.  You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by being in this empowering emotional state.

Best way to implement a gratitude practice

  • Every morning before you start the day journal a list of everything that is good in your life
    • If things are tough, start with anything at all
      • Bed to sleep in
      • Food to eat
      • House that you can live in
      • Good weather
      • healthy people around you
      • someone smiling
      • a funny show that makes you laugh
      • someone did something nice for someone
  • Keep a visual reminder in front of you at as many places as possible until being in a state of gratefulness becomes automatic and natural
  • Every night before going to bed journal a list of all things that went well, all things that you did well, all things that you are thankful for

We nourish our bodies every day because we are in tune with our bodily needs.  We are in a habit of noticing when we are hungry or need to rest for the most part.  But if we don’t do it regularly, we can get thrown off our ability to perform our best.

We are not always taught the importance of being grateful, but our emotional bodies and spiritual bodies need feeding and gratefulness is one of the most powerful nutrients that we can feed ourselves with.  With it, we can be strong, creative, empowered, attractive, patient, graceful, kind, loving, and more capable of doing anything that we want to do.

We need this emotional and spiritual nutrient regularly, daily, and as needed throughout the day.

By making it a regular practice, it eventually becomes an automatic habitual action that we do like eating and sleeping.

Can you imagine a world where we are all grateful?

Would we continue to have poverty, crimes, and wars, if we all were to practice being grateful?

I’m here to help!
