Self Compassion
How is your level of self-compassion? Do you know how to be compassionate with yourself when times get hard? Are you hard on yourself when you make mistakes, when you have failures? Self-compassion is a powerful tool in your life skills tool chest, if you want to know how to be your best.
Is your life fluid and calm? Do you get back up from disappointments and failures with a feeling of efficacy? Do you often feel joy, satisfaction, and emotional security?
Having self-compassion, being able to be compassionate with yourself allows you to experience the good feelings in life and to see the beauty in the world. The lack of self-compassion makes it hard for you to have compassion for others.
It is imperative for your emotional and physical health that you learn self-compassion and I will share with you what has powerfully worked for me and also my clients.
After you begin practicing self-compassion, you will not ever want to go back to being harsh with yourself because the results speak for themselves.
This post is all about teaching you about self-compassion so that you can have the beautiful life that you were born to have.
How to have Self-Compassion
1) Impact of No Self-Compassion on the quality of your life
- You are too often tired
- You feel empty a lot
- You have little patience with other people
- You feel little patience with life in general
- You find yourself feeling stressed out often
- You feel miserable often
- Your personal and work relationships are not at their best
- You don’t feel much joy
- You feel like a failure
- You feel unhealthy
- You feel unhappy
For all whom you care about, you must begin practicing self-compassion.
When you lack self-compassion, you are likely to be, impatient, harsh, and less than as loving as you want to be. You not only hurt yourself but also hurt others without meaning to hurt others when you lack self-compassion.
2. Impact of Self-Compassion on the quality of your life
- You know how to feel calm
- You feel a sense of ok-ness about your world
- You heal from failures quickly
- You feel a sense of empowerment even when things go wrong
- You feel capable in general and can face disappointment without completely falling apart.
When you are practicing self-compassion, you truly are practicing the very best version of yourself that you can. That means that you are pursuing and living the best life that you can.
When you live your best life, you can only spread that best life to others in and outside of your life.
3. How to gain and practice Self-Compassion in your life
- Understand why you need to be compassionate to yourself
- Know that being kind to yourself does not. make you lazy
- Know that being kind to yourself gives you energy and power
- During moments when you have a failure of some kind, instead of harsh words, give yourself compassion and empathy as you would a child that you care about.
- Look for times when you are feeling empty and worn out, hug yourself, literally or just from your heart, and talk to yourself like an unconditionally loving parent to your child.
- When faced with a choice of punishing yourself or kind and positive guidance, choose the latter always and every time.
- Do spontaneous kind acts toward yourself without having to earn them.
- Know that you are worthy of love and kindness, you don’t have to earn it.
- Practice, practice, and practice Self-compassion, and practice some more!!!
By being self-compassionate, you have everything good to gain and nothing to lose. You will gain the best version of yourself in every way.
If love is the most powerful thing and it is, self-compassion is loving yourself most powerfully. When you love yourself most powerfully, you will love others most powerfully.
The choice is obvious, isn’t it?
